Freedom of Speech is Great…Unless You Offend Me: Another Thing Islam and Liberalism Have in Common

“This is offensive!”

I hear this all the time from liberals online, usually in response to something true that I’ve posted that sort of punches their worldview in the face.

In Breitbart fashion I respond: So?

Sometimes people in the Ann Coulter tag on tumblr start talking about how someone should “shut that b*tch up” and wondering why she’s “still allowed to talk?”

My response: The First Amendment.

You don’t have a right to not be offended, you don’t have a right to not be insulted, and you really don’t have a right to tell me it’s illegal to criticize your religion, your behavior, or anything else I choose.

For some reason liberals and Muslims both would like the government, in some way, to stop me from saying things that offend them.

I have a scenario for you

I’m in the mall with my two children*, taking them shoe shopping.

We are minding our own business, hurting no one, just trying to live our lives. My kids take off, running around a corner and I tell them not to get too far ahead. Just as I turn the corner behind them I see that a man, one who has been killing people in my family for years, is holding a gun on them.

He says he is going to kill them. I know that he is not bluffing.

I ask him what he wants, he tells me he doesn’t want anything, except to kill my children, me, and anyone else he can find who is related to me.

There is no negotiation possible with this man as a result.

Now I have two choices, I can wait for mall security to call the police and hope they can negotiate with this man, which I already know for a fact that they cannot, the man is clearly psychotic.

Or I can reach into my purse and pull out the gun I bought for protecting my self and my family. I’ve been trained to use it and I believe that I can shoot the man before he shoots my children.

So I make a judgment call, I pull out my gun and fire at him.

As I fire the weapon he grabs a child out of the crowd and uses them as a human shield to protect himself from the bullet. He throws the child to the ground and runs away, to attack my family another day.

Now the question is this.

Which one of us is morally and legally responsible for the death or injury of that child?

I legally own my gun, have gone through all the necessary training, and it is completely legal for me to use said gun to defend myself.

The man was given his gun by a friend, who also hates me and my family, and has been using it to kill my family members, one by one.

I was legally within my rights to discharge my gun, I was not aiming at the child, I was aiming at a man threatening me.

He was the person who was so psychotic that he thought it was fine to use a child as a human shield.

I am not the one at fault here, not morally, not legally, though there is no doubt that emotionally I will take a toll and the parents of the child may blame me for a time regardless of the facts of the situation.

He is the one that will be held at fault by the legal system.

Not me.

So why is it that when the same thing happens in the war between Hamas and Israel, it’s the mother protecting her children that’s told they are at fault?

*I don’t have two children, but for the sake of the scenario, please play along.

Israel and why we need to stand by them

I’ve written on this topic time and time again, from the perspective of a capitalist, a gay woman, and an ethical person.

Now we are just talking about not being a moron.

It’s all well and fine to say ‘don’t judge someone based on their religion, don’t judge them all based on the actions of a few, don’t judge them based on what their religious texts and leaders say’.

Okay, I’m not judging Hamas or the ‘Palestinians’ on religion at all. I’m judging them based on their actions.

They are terrorists.

Plain and simple.

I’ve got to be honest here. I have no skin in this game. I’m not Jewish, I’m not Christian, I’ve never visited Israel (though I would love too), I don’t personally know anyone who lives in Israel or Gaza or ‘Palestine’, though I follow several on twitter

I didn’t know anyone who died in the World Trade Centers either.

That doesn’t stop me from recognizing evil and terrorism when I see it.

Everyone from Reuters to Al Jazeera news are flat out lying (or at the very least, misleading) about the start of this aggressive military action from Israel. Reporting that the fighting began when Israeli Defense Forces organized an ‘assassination’ of the Hamas military leader Ahmed Al-Jaabari, who was killed in a tactical air strike by the IDF on the 14th of November.

Nope.

Not true.

In point of fact, this all started MUCH further back, but lets just consider recent history.

In 2011, according to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) website, Hamas fired 627 rockets at Israel.

So far in 2012 Hamas has fired 1,068 rockets(as of this posting), many of them at civilian targets.

Since the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense (which begin with the air strike that killed Al-Jaabari) on the 14th 301 of those rockets have been fired. Many of them being shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system (could the name of that get any more bad-ass? I think not.)But the fact is that Operation Pillar of Defense (another awesome name) was started for a definite reason, which was a volley of several rockets sent into Israel on November 10th, along with an anti-tank missile which hit an IDF jeep and injured 4 soldiers.

So Israel finally said “to hell with that” and started fighting back seriously.

For that President Mursi of Egypt is condemning them and saying that Israel is the one who is causing destabilization in the region.

“The Israelis must realize that this aggression is unacceptable and would only lead to instability in the region and would negatively and greatly impact the security of the region,” Mursi said.

- Reuters

I mean, really?

Talk about delusion.

That’s like constantly punching a guy in the face and then trying to file assault charges when he decks you to make you stop.

Hamas is not the group America needs to be in bed with. They take hostages. They fire on civilian targets, killing innocent people. They hide behind civilians, those they are supposed to be protecting, and use civilian areas as staging grounds for rocket launchers, then blame Israel for the civilian casualties that occur when Israel takes out those launchers. Israel is the one warning Gaza residents to stay away from Hamas operatives and military installations for their own protection and treating injured Palestinians, pro bono, in Israel.

Israel is the only sane, truly freedom loving, country in that area of the Middle East. They have equal rights for women, equal rights for the lgbt community, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, etc., as I said in a recent article for DS&P magazine.

Our foreign policy is in shamble. President Obama wants ‘daylight’ between us and our one sane ally in the Middle East.

Israel is at war and we are doing nothing to help.

Admittedly, Israel can probably take care of themselves, but they shouldn’t have too. That’s what allies are for.

If I hadn’t already been disgusted with Obama and Hamas and the Islamic countries of the Middle East in general…I would be now.

But we all know that I passed through ‘disgusted’ right on to ‘outraged and pissed off’ a long time ago.

Crowder, in the video below, is a bit more light hearted in his analysis, but I feel he’s probably as pissed off as me.

One year ago, today.

Do you remember the reports surfacing that Iran was going to be putting ships, equipped with long range missiles, just outside America’s maritime borders to intimidate us?

Not that it worked, because, in the words of one of the comments on an article from that day “They would fry their own equipment”. I mean, it’s Iran. The idea that any of their missiles would actually hit us or that their ships could even make the trip and set up some sort of Flotilla, as the Iranian Navy commander, Admiral Habibollah Sayari, called it back then, is just about as laughable as the plot of the new Red Dawn movie.*

But the viability of their plan isn’t why I’m reminding everyone of this.

I’m reminding them of this, because Obama seems hellbent on being Ahmadinejad being his new best friend and organizing play dates between the United States and Iran, while he stops excepting Netanyahu’s calls and removes Israel from America’s friend’s list.

Israel has been our ally for a very long time, may I remind you.

Israel is one of the few countries in the Middle East who celebrates freedom, has equal rights for women and LGBT members of their society (while other countries strip women of their rights and strip LGBT people of their lives), and promotes freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

These are things that mirror American ideals. So why is our President cancelling meetings with Netanyahu and, instead, verbally getting cozy with Ahmadinejad, the leader of a country that has intentionally tried to militarily intimidate our country and doesn’t exactly mirror us in their view of freedoms.

In fact, they don’t have any respect for the freedoms we hold dear in our country, their constitution doesn’t even respect the sovereignty of other nations, because their intent is to put a one world ISLAMIC government in control.

Don’t believe me? Here’s part of their constitution’s preamble.

in accordance with the aims and aspirations set out above, with the hope that this century will witness the establishment of a universal holy government and the downfall of all others.

- based on a translation provided by the Iranian embassy in London

Where we have a Bill of Rights, even the preamble of their constitution goes against the very basic freedoms that America should be promoting.

Want some examples?**

WOMEN IN THE CONSTITUTION
In the creation of Islamic foundations, all the human forces which had been in the service of general foreign exploitation will recover their true identity and human rights. In doing so, women who have endured more tyranny up till now under the idolatrous order, will naturally vindicate their rights further.

Women were drawn away from the family unit and (put into) the condition of “being a mere thing”, or “being a mere tool for work” in the service of consumerism and exploitation. Re-assumption of the task of bringing up religiously-minded men and women, ready to work and fight together in life’s fields of activity, is a serious and precious duty of motherhood. And so acceptance of this responsibility as more serious and – from the Islamic point of view -a loftier ground for appreciation (lit: value) status (lit: greatness) will be forthcoming.

You know how feminist’s these days get so upset about women who ‘sell-out’ by choosing to stay home and be full-time mom’s and homemakers?

If Iran had their way that would be your ONLY option ladies.

Because having a life outside the home, having choices, that’s EXPLOITATION. No, your real freedom comes from being coerced into being a housewife with no rights outside those that your husband gives you.

THE RELIGIOUS ARMY
In the organization and equipping of the countries defense forces, there must be regard for faith and religion as their basis and rules. And so the Islamic Republic’s army, and the corps of Revolutionary Guards must be organized in accordance with this aim. They have responsibility not only for the safeguarding of the frontiers, but also for a religious mission, which is Holy War (JIHAD) along the way of God, and the struggle to extend the supremacy of God’s Law in the world.

“Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of God and your enemies, and others beside”.
Quotation from the Arabic

Jihad, extend the supremacy of God’s (Allah’s) Law in the world, religious mission, strike terror into the heart of the enemies of your God (which would be anyone who doesn’t follow their God, fyi).

THE JUDICIARY OF THE CONSTITUTION

Thus provision must be made for the establishment of a judicial system on the basis of Islamic justice, manned by just judges, well acquainted with the exact rules of the Islamic code.

Sharia Law anyone? Sounds lovely.

THE PUBLIC MEDIA
The public media (radio-television) must take their place in the process of development of the Islamic revolution, and must serve in the propagation of Islamic culture. In this sphere they must look for opportunities for a healthy exchange of differing ideas, and must rigorously refrain from the propagation and encouragement of destructive and anti-Islamic qualities (ideas).

Freedom of the press? Not so much.

Yeah, that seems like a good country to be allying ourselves with.

Great job Obama.

Great job liberals.

I think they’ve lost the plot, maybe we all have, but I’m here to help you find it again.

__________________________________________________________________

*who thought that implying North Korea could invade America was even a plausible plot? Seriously. They should have kept the plot they originally, wrote. At least China has the numbers to attempt an invasion.

** All examples come from the Iran Chamber Society.

I usually smile and laugh and tell people that politics don’t make me angry.

But that’s just not accurate today.

I’m mad as hell and, as Michelle Malkin said at Right Online this year, why the hell shouldn’t I be!

Fast and Furious, Executive privilege, unconstitutional executive orders about immigration, unconstitutional healthcare reforms, spitting and shredding the constitution, lying at every turn, campaigning instead of governing, cheap shots, dirty campaigns, refusing to listen to Congress, saying the Supreme Court’s decisions don’t matter, leaks of top secret documents, money given to the Muslim Brotherhood, support to the Sharia based government in Libya, promises made to a corrupt new President in Russia where soldiers are burning our flag, destroying our foreign policies and turning our country against our allies.

This is not something that we can not afford to allow to continue.

Every time I hear someone say they aren’t going to vote for Romney, for whatever reason they have, I want to punch something.

What are you thinking?

Do you want Obama to WIN?

Get your head screwed on straight and stop screwing over our country.

There is NO REASON good enough in this race to justify NOT voting for Romney this November. Even if you have issues with him, read that paragraph I wrote starting with ‘Fast and Furious’ again. Can anything you fear with Romney be worse than this?

I have very good reasons to vote FOR Romney. I’ve been supporting him for months.

So even if you can’t find a good reason to vote FOR Romney, right now all you have to do is look at Washington’s current leader and his cronies to find a reason

I don’t care what personal reasons you had for casting a ballot for someone else in the primaries, now that Romney is the nominee we can’t afford to vote for anyone else. If Giuliani and Bachmann announced a write in campaign (and I love Giuliani and Bachmann) I would still be voting for Romney, because he’s the one who can beat Obama.

And Obama cannot win.

I love this country more than I love my own life, but that’s why I can’t sit here and watch Obama tear this country down and destroy her foundations for another 4 years, so that he can rebuild her in his own image.

I swear by all that I consider holy that I will leave this country if Obama is re-elected. This is more than “going Galt” like I’ve seen some people threaten. This isn’t even a temporary idea, I will leave this country, I will get citizenship and I will throw my knowledge into fighting for that country.

Because, if Obama wins the election in November, then this country may no longer be worth fighting for. The things I love about this country will slowly, but surely, be chipped away and I can’t be here for that. It would break my heart and it might just kill me.

Don’t let Obama destroy this country. Don’t let petty, foolish, personal issues send your vote elsewhere. We can’t afford that.

The UN is useless, Arab countries don’t know what ‘civil rights’ even are, and somehow people still think Israel is at fault: AKA Pat Condell posted another video.

Pat Condell seemed to have taken some time off and I was almost worried that a Fatwā had finally been placed on him and carried out.

However, he’s alive and still going strong as his most recent video proves.

Take a moment to listen to him.

Talk about Cognitive Dissonance, Next thing you know they’ll be setting up donations for the Muslim Brotherhood (via Myself @ OutRight Patriots)

“How can you support a group that doesn’t even support equal rights for you?”

I know I’m not the only gay conservative who has been asked this question. I’ve given a myriad of responses, depending on my mood, ranging from “I prefer not to be thought of an ass who can be guided using a ‘carrot on a stick’ approach” to “being able to get married to another woman is not really my biggest worry at this moment in time” or whole discussions on why marriage shouldn’t be in the purview of the government at all and discussions on why this ridiculous view that all Republicans and all Democrats feel the same way about gay people.

But now I have to return the question to Seattle’s LGBT commission (or at least a small part of it).

How can you support a country, run by religious zealots, where you would be murdered for being gay?

I mean, you (and most of the other LGBT organizations in this country) seem to be absolutely furious with the idea that you might be slightly inconvenienced (yes, inconvenienced, because with a little more work the majority of marital rights can be yours with a trip to a lawyer) by your inability to get married in some states.

Yet, for some reason, you are out there protesting Israel (the most ‘gay friendly’ country in the Middle East) and supporting Palestine (who is controlled by Hamas, who I already pointed out would happily murder you).

Tea Party vs OWS (Patriots vs. Thugs) – (Via The Conservative New Ager)

I am getting tired of people comparing the Tea Party to Occupy Wall Street. Now I am not fully in support of the Tea Party, while I like what they stand for they need to prove to me that they can last beyond a single election…at that point I will whole heartedly say I am a Tea Party member (also assuming it stays solely focused on economics and ignores social issues). And the Tea Party hates the fact that the government gave bailouts to banks because it was a bad economic move…Occupy Wall Street hates that banks took the money (not so much with the government giving money)…but this is really the only place where the two movements kinda sorta touch…as an example of a Venn Diagram these two movements are a poor case. The Tea Party is asking for government to get out of the economy, the Occupy idiots are asking for the government to take charge.

via Tea Party vs OWS (Patriots vs. Thugs).

Occupy Wall Street = Nothing like the Tea Party. There, now can we move on from making these comparisons CNN and MSNBC?

Useful idiots for Palestine aka: Pat Condell did a new video

and I’m still too busy to do my own post.

Please check it out. He says a lot here, angry as usual, offensive to some. I happen to agree with much of it, as I tend to do with Pat.

I worry he will get himself killed one day. If there isn’t a fatwah out for him now, it’s probably only a matter of time…and I don’t actually think he cares.

The Geneva Convention? What’s that?

That’s what Saudi Prince Khaled bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud is likely saying these days, because that is really the only excuse for why he would do something like this.

[The Prince] declared Saturday he would give $900,000 to whoever abducts an Israeli soldier in order to be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.

In an interview with Saudi TV, bin Talal stressed that his offer was in response to a similar offer made by a Saudi cleric who earlier this week said he would give $100,000 to anyone who would kidnap an Israeli soldier.

“Al-Qarni offered $100,000 to whoever abducts (an Israeli soldier) and I say to him – I sympathize with you and am offering $900,000 to put the figure at $1 million,” he said.

I can’t even imagine why the Saudis would think they could get away with this. I’m sincerely hoping that King Abdullah (Who I really wanted to like after this post I wrote) will come down hard on his brother’s son and condemn what he said. I haven’t heard anything on that front yet, but I keep hoping. I only just found out about this at 3:30 this morning.

I think we all feared this would start after Israel traded over a thousand Hamas and Palestinian prisoners of war for Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who had been captive for 5 years, was brought home.

I love that Israel cares so much for their soldiers, I am happy beyond words that this soldier returned home finally.

But I realize that this has now set a precedent that people like Al-Qarni and bin Talal will take advantage of. Kidnap an Israeli soldiers (or perhaps an Israeli civilian), get a bunch of your people back in return. This is an unhealthy and lopsided precedent to make and it will only make the lives of Israeli soldiers and civilians more dangerous and frightening.
