Of course they conveniently like Weiner just fine when Breitbart was scooping the story from them ages ago. Must hurt to have someone you despise always be smarter and quicker on the draw than you…even after death.
Traditionally left wing news media have turned on Weiner viciously.
At some point, the full story of Anthony Weiner and his sexual relationships and texting habits will finally be told. In the meantime, the serially evasive Mr. Weiner should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City.
A Web site called The Dirty had another woman’s story, another round of sex texts, and another picture of Mr. Weiner’s penis. The startling news was that this new episode apparently took place last summer, only a few months before Mr. Weiner was to begin another run at public office.
Things are different now, he insists. “This behavior is behind me,” he said again on Tuesday. He suggested that people should have known that his sexting was an unresolved problem well into 2012.
That’s ridiculous and speaks to a familiar but repellent pattern of misleading and evasion. It’s up to Mr. Weiner if he wants to keep running, to count on voters to forgive and forget and hand him the keys to City Hall. But he has already disqualified himself.
A panel on CNN stated that if Weiner won the election to be mayor of New York City, that it would make the city a “punchline”, which I dare say is true. There is not a single thing that Weiner can say (or the media can say about him) that can’t be turned into a dirty joke or be followed up with “that’s what she said” as a punchline.
New York City doesn’t really need that on top of the craziness that Bloomberg heaped on them in the last few years.
Chris Matthews on MSNBC apparently ‘really doesn’t trust [Weiner]’. This is a bit of a turn around from his words in 2011, when Matthews said that the only reason Weiner was in trouble over this was because those silly Christian Conservative types didn’t like sex.
Add Rachel Maddow (who we know doesn’t, y’know, like “weiner” in the euphamastic sense, but she did defend Weiner like crazy).
Maddow noted how Weiner previously, obliquely suggested more sexts might come out, but no one imagined they were “online, no-pants exchanges that he was still having after he supposedly came clean and apologized and resigned from Congress.” She slammed Weiner for his “redemption tour” that was premised on the idea that he learned from his mistakes, when in fact, he did absolutely no such thing. She asked, “Why would anybody ever believe him ever again?”
WNBC political reporter Melissa Russo told Maddow that apparently, Weiner’s fall from grace was just “not important enough” to stop his sexting, but she added a lot of voters “simply do not care” about how sleazy he may be. Maddow said Weiner’s behavior never bothered her, it was the constant lying, “over and over and over again, looking people right in the eye, including me personally” and telling very direct lies.
I wonder why this sort of 180 never happened to Clinton (and probably never will). As for Weiner’s wife, I would feel worse for her if she wasn’t playing the “perfect politician’s wife” as one of my friend’s described her.
Naturally I reprimanded him for forgetting that Hillary Clinton, married to man who is mostly likely a rapist, is actually the perfect politician’s wife. However Human Abedin, Weiner’s wife, is someone who has worked closely with Clinton and who Clinton seems to consider a second daughter.
I guess Huma is doing her best to follow in her mentor’s footsteps.
